The College

As the sole Further Education establishment in the county of Coleg Powys AgriculturePowys, Coleg Powys has three major campuses in Brecon, Llandrindod Wells & Newtown.  The College also has various outreach centres across the county.

The college provides a range of learning opportunities including full, part-time and evening classes for a cross-section of students from school leavers to adult learners, ranging from leisure courses to NVQs, BTEC National Diplomas and Degrees. Learners are given the opportunity to take advantage of a variety of learning methods including flexi-study and distance learning.

Courses

We offer courses in a wide range of subject areas from Arts, Computing & Construction to Hair & Beauty, Health & Social Care and Sports.

Coleg Powys Student LibraryWhatever the type of qualification you choose, Coleg Powys offers the greatest range of learning opportunities in Powys. The College offers a wide variety of subjects and qualifications, ranging from pre-entry level up to level five (degree).

Depending upon the type of qualification, you can access your chosen path of study by various means including full and part-time (day and evening) at college as well as through a number of flexible pathways.

Apprenticeships & Traineeships

Coleg Powys ApprenticeshipsColeg Poyws, in partnership with local employers and DCELLS, delivers a range of apprenticeship programmes.  These programmes are part-financed by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Assembly Government.  If you want to get your career off the ground right now you can take on the challenge and enroll on a Work Based Apprenticeship, Foundation Apprenticeship, or a Modern Apprenticeship.

Higher Education, Post Graduate and Professional

Coleg Powys Students

Coleg Powys continues to develop the range of higher education programmes available locally via its partnership arrangements with a number of institutions including:
•    University of Glamorgan University of Wales, Lampeter
•    University of Wales Institute, Cardiff
•    University of Wales, Newport
The range of programmes currently on offer includes Foundation Degrees and BA Honours Degrees in a range of subjects.  We also offer a PGCE in Post 16 Teaching.

Adult Learners

Coleg Powys provides a wide choice of options for adult learners, whether they would like to develop new skills for career or personal development, or simply take up a new hobby or evening class at one of the community courses run at venues throughout Powys.  Adult learners have access to part-time day and evening classes, as well as full-time or flexi-study options.

Employers

Coleg Powys can help your staff to develop their skills - either by them attending a college course, or an in-house training programme in the workplace.

This form of provision is designed for employers who wish to recognise existing staff abilities and develop new competencies.  The college provides a tailored assessment and support service which can be wholly or partly delivered in the work place.
