The College

At Coleg Harlech residential college, in the community across North Wales and North Powys, and in the work place, we specialise in providing courses tailored to the needs of adults. Many of our students were failed by traditional education in the past and have found a new route to learning through Coleg Harlech WEA.

At Coleg Harlech we offer full time courses for adults (aged 20+) in the following subjects: Music Technology, Multimedia, Social Studies, Access to Nursing, Art and Design. Most students are eligible for a bursary to cover the tuition, board and accommodation costs.

Courses

Coleg Harlech adult residential college offers a 1 year full time University of Wales Foundation Certificate in the following subjects: Music Technology, Multimedia, Social Studies, Access to Nursing, Art and Design.

All courses are studied at level 3 and are worth 120 credits, upon successful completion students are able to apply for university.

The courses are FREE to eligible students, the main criteria is:

• over 20 by 1st September in the year of entry
• not have studied at a higher level (ie already have a degree)
• have been a UK resident for the previous 3 years and have settled status.

Higher Education, Post Graduate and Professional

It is possible to study the first year of the Bangor University Social Studies degree course at Coleg Harlech.

The first year of the course includes a general introduction to the social sciences which has to be completed by all applicants before progressing onto the second and third years, delivered solely in Bangor at the university

It is also possible to study the first year of a BSc/BDes Special Effects Development offered by University of Bolton who offer bursaries to Coleg Harlech students.

Students benefit from small teaching groups and an adult environment while studying their degree at Coleg Harlech.

Adult Learners

Coleg Harlech WEA are specialist providers of adult education, we offer a wide range of day and evening courses throughout North Wales and North Powys. Often working in partnership with other organisations we aim to support adults looking to develop new skills and interests. In fact the informal, relaxed approach to learning has proved so popular the WEA is now the largest provider of adult education in the UK.

Coleg Harlech WEA is involved in many work related learning projects not only within large and multinational organisations and public authorities but also in small and micro enterprises and voluntary organisations.

We aim to bring relevant learning opportunities to adults wherever they are located and whatever their circumstances - whether they need a scholarship to start a new business, need help with their IT skills or just want the opportunity to learn while in a workplace environment.
