The College
Coleg Glan Hafren is Cardiff’s largest further education college, offering courses for school
leavers, adults, international students and businesses. We have two campuses – one in Cardiff city centre and one to the East of Cardiff, just off the M4.
We offer short courses, part-time courses, full-time courses, courses at work and courses through your pc.
With our good facilities, convenient locations and times, excellent tutors and award-winning learning centres and support, it’s never been easier to chase your dream.
Courses
Glan Hafren’s courses include Sports, Catering and Childcare to ESOL and Access, Automotive and Construction, Creative, Business and Beauty, A Levels and Languages plus Learndirect.
14 -19 years of age
14-19 year olds have a wide range of choices at Coleg Glan Hafren. From 14-16, students still at some schools can take a college course as part of their GCSE studies. For anyone leaving school at 16, or thinking about switching to college we can also offer courses through our Collegium agreement with schools, around 35 A Levels, Pre-apprenticeships, the Welsh Baccalaureate, a host of vocational courses and first-class learning support.
Apprenticeships & Traineeships
The Automotive and Construction Technologies Faculty offers plenty of Modern Apprenticeship options to those already learning in their job. There are also Apprenticeship qualifications in Pharmacy and Childcare, plus over 20 Hair and Beauty Master classes, which can be studied as a hobby or to gain more qualifications to help you at work.
If you want to get better qualified in your job and have brighter career prospects, these options could be for you.
Higher Education, Post Graduate and Professional
Coleg Glan Hafren offers a range of courses beyond A Level standard, including teaching courses such as the CELTA and PGCE, Accountancy courses up to Technician Level, ILEX or Law courses up to Level 6 or Graduate Entry, CIM or Marketing qualifications up to Level 6, plus some Foundation Degrees. Some of these courses are run jointly with Universities such as UWIC and University of Wales, Newport, and are at convenient times and prices.
Adult Learners
Adults are never too old to learn at Coleg Glan Hafren and there is plenty of financial and learning support to help you. If you’re in a job already we offer work based assessment, plenty of A Level evening classes, short courses, Welsh for adults, plus community learning at other centres around Cardiff. Scared of computers? Join a beginner’s computer course. If you’re unemployed or want to change jobs, you could even take any full-time course.
Employers
The college offers a range of solutions to employers, through our business services arm Training Solutions Wales. Our access to the wealth of resources at the college and beyond means we can deliver a package to develop your employees’ skills and enhance business performance. International
Cardiff is the fantastic capital city of Wales – you don’t need to be Doctor Who to step right from the shops and into a castle. At Cardiff College International you can study English for International students, plus a range of college courses that will help you get a better job anywhere in the world! Open Days
Coleg Glan Hafren runs open days throughout the year where you can come and speak to tutors, gain independent careers advice and see our excellent facilities. We have some open days coming up for school leavers: an Autumn Open Day on the 4th November and a January open day for school leavers and adults on January 15th 2009.
