The College

The College Ystrad Mynach is based in the Caerphilly County Borough providing education and training to over 10,000 learners a year.  We offer training opportunities for learners of all ages and abilities up to and including Higher Education courses.  Extensive work has been undertaken on our campus and facilities to provide you, our learner with the most modern and friendly environment.

Courses

The College offers a wide range of courses including: Construction, GCSE’s & A Levels, Care, Computing and Business & Administration.

14 -19 years of age

The College 14-19 project continues to grow from strength to strength with over 350 students undertaking courses in Construction, Motor Vehicle, Hairdressing, A Levels, and Public Services.

The progress that has been made towards meeting the Welsh Assembly Government’s 14-19 agenda has been achieved through a strong partnership of schools, Caerphilly County Borough Council 2 colleges that meets regularly to develop, plan and coordinate the curriculum and support for students.

Apprenticeships & Traineeships

Modern Apprenticeships and the Foundation Modern Apprenticeships are available at both young people leaving school and anyone who wishes to move ahead in the job.  Apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to earn a wage whilst gaining respected qualifications that will give you a career to be proud of.  To become a Modern Apprentice you must be employed.

Higher Education, Post Graduate and Professional

The College Ystrad Mynach offers a range of Higher Education courses at its site in Ystrad Mynach.  You can study for HNC/D, Foundation Degree and also a degree in a variety of areas including Computing, Early Years, Humanities, Teacher Training and Management.  Our courses are franchised from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff, University of Glamorgan and University of Wales, Newport, guaranteeing you a well recognised higher qualification delivered by your local college.

Employers

We work with employers of all sizes, offering training and consultancy of the highest standards. We can offer a range of short courses, training and consultancy in a variety of areas including: Health and Safety, First Aid and Food Hygiene.

We can tailor training to your company’s particular needs, or you can join one of our numerous open courses we run at Tredomen Business & Technology Centre.
