The College
Gorseinon College is a friendly and supportive environment in which to study. Staff are committed to providing high quality education and training for all students, both full time and part time. Student support is recognised as being of the highest standard. We have high expectations of our learners, who consistently meet these by achieving outstanding examination results. Progression to higher education is exceptionally high; the tutorial system, including specialised programmes, such as for those applying to Oxbridge, ensures that students are accepted at universities and specialist colleges throughout the UK.
Courses
The College offers courses in Business & Management, Caring & Health, Computing & ICT, Engineering, Languages, Humanities & Social Studies, Maths, Science & Electronics, Performing Arts & Media, Sport & Leisure and the Visual Arts.
14 - 19 years of age
Nearly 50 AS/A Levels and a range of Vocational courses, including BTEC Entry Level, First Diploma, National Diploma and National Certificate, are offered. Students access courses at the appropriate level, bearing in mind their existing qualifications and experience. Students are prepared for the demands of employment, with key skills and enterprise activities embedded in the curriculum. Membership of a Sport Academy enables students to follow their chosen programme of study whilst developing their sporting skills.
Apprenticeships and Traineeships
For those who want to enter the world of work and still continue studying then a Modern Apprenticeship could be the answer. Occupational routes include Care, Customer Service, Motor Vehicle and Youth Justice. Skillbuild programmes offer a chance to take the first steps into learning - routes offered include IT and the Army Preparation course. Jobcentre Plus is a further training option which can provide access to courses at Gorseinon College.
Higher Education, Post Graduate and Professional
Gorseinon has links with higher education institutions to extend its provision and meet demand. Teaching & Development Work Qualifications are accredited by the University of Wales, Newport. The Degree in Youth and Community Work is offered in partnership with the City & County of Swansea and accredited by the North East Wales Institute. City & Guilds Level 4 courses are available in Textiles and Glass, with professional qualifications within the Information & Communication Technology provision.
Adult Learners
The College provides a wide range of high quality lifelong learning courses - from short courses, sometimes lasting just a few weeks, to high level awards of two years’ duration. In partnership with other providers, the College provides courses in communities throughout the City & County of Swansea. Staff are sensitive to the needs of mature students and the support and guidance provided is reflected in the success rate of part-time students.
Employers
Gorseinon College is committed to working with employers to improve the skills of employees to meet the needs of the organisation. Employees may access College courses or programmes can be tailored to meet specific requirements. Apprenticeships are an appropriate route for many. Professional qualifications include those offered within the Microsoft Academy, ILM Management courses and the Modern Skills Diploma, a Level 4 qualification for experienced workers in the Care sector, especially those with managerial responsibilities.

Open Days
Guidance and Enrolment Evenings for part time students are usually be held during the first week of September.
Open Evenings for full time students will be held on 10th November, 19th January and 16th March.
These events are an opportunity to speak to staff, who can provide information and advice on all the courses offered, and to view the facilities which are available.
